What is an endowment?

An endowment is a gift that keeps giving

When you give to the Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation, you give a gift to your community. The difference is…forever.

Here is how Endowed Funds work:

When you make an investment in an Endowed Fund, by contributing to either an existing fund or by starting your own fund, your gift – or principle – is never spent. It’s the income earned on your gift that is used to make grants to the community.

By pooling your gift with those of others the funds grow and thrive. Your endowed fund allows us to make grants to the community each year, forever.

You have several options for your fund, from adding to existing unrestricted funds that allow us to grant to charities as needs dictate, to establishing an endowment specifically for a local cause near and dear to your heart.

Because it’s endowed at the Community Foundation, our gift will make a difference forever. It will grow over time and become a more and more valuable asset for our community. This is exactly the legacy that we wanted to leave. – John
